Eclipse Season is here. Are you Ready?
The sky has always been our mirror. Moons, planets, shadows crossing light — they all stir something in us. In energy work, these celestial shifts aren’t just pretty to watch. They move us. They mark endings and beginnings. They remind us that we’re part of something vast.
Lately inside Daily Tonic, we’ve been talking about working with the moon. Rituals for new moons, meditations for full moons. Beautiful practices. But I noticed something: very few people mentioned the special lunar events.
Eclipses. Blood moons. Supermoons. The wildcards.
They don’t arrive on a neat monthly schedule, but that doesn’t make them any less potent. In fact, their rarity is what makes their energy so powerful. And with eclipse season fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to explore how these events affect us energetically.
What Is Eclipse Season?
Eclipse seasons happen twice a year, roughly six months apart. They usually last about 34–38 days, with lunar and solar eclipses clustering together in that window. Most years we’ll see four eclipses, though occasionally there can be six or even seven — and that’s when the cosmic weather gets especially intense.
Astrologers often recommend being proactive rather than reactive during these times. Eclipse energy can feel like quick change, endings and beginnings stacked close together.
What’s Happening This Year?
The first eclipse season of 2025 showed up in March, bringing a Virgo lunar eclipse on March 13 and an Aries solar eclipse on March 29.
The next season arrives in September:
September 7 → Pisces total lunar eclipse (a long one, with totality lasting about 83 minutes). The Farmers’ Almanac notes it will be visible across the Eastern Hemisphere, peaking 1:30–3:00 PM EDT.
September 21 → Virgo partial solar eclipse, visible across New Zealand from about 1:30 to 6:00 PM EDT.
And if you love to look far ahead: the first eclipse season of 2026 begins February 17 with an Aquarius solar eclipse.
What Do Eclipses Mean Spiritually?
Solar eclipses always happen during new moons, so their energy is about beginnings — fresh starts, new paths, doors opening. That might look like new career opportunities, additions to the family, or a completely different direction calling you forward.
Lunar eclipses always happen during full moons, which carry the energy of culmination and closure. They often stir release, endings, or emotional breakthroughs — a breakup, a move, or the clear knowing that something has run its course.
Astrologer Susan Miller has said that eclipses can be up to three times more powerful than a typical moon phase. That doesn’t mean every eclipse rocks your world — but if one aligns closely with your birth chart, you’ll feel it more strongly.
How Might an Eclipse Shift Your Practice?
If you already honor the new and full moons with ritual, know this: eclipses amplify the energy. What you set into motion during these times lands more deeply.
And — your intuition gets louder. Eclipses bring messages that propel us forward. Sometimes those messages are hard to hear, but they are always important for your growth. This is a time to practice trust and acceptance, even when the guidance feels sharp.
Practice With Intentionality
It’s easy to get overwhelmed: moon cycles, planetary alignments, birth charts. The mind wants to track it all. But you don’t have to juggle every detail.
Instead: breathe. Center. Return to your body. Set one clear intention. Trust your intuition to do the rest.
That’s how eclipse energy becomes less chaos, more compass.
